OBJECTIVE:  The job that I am seeking is one that will continue to expand and utilize the occupational health and case management skills I have already mastered.  I work comfortably in an office facility or in a client location.  I love working with people and helping them reach their optimum health by educating and directing them to the care they have available to them.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

November, 2002-Present  Rochelle Community Hospital         Rochelle, IL
     Sr. Occupational Health Nurse

     Manager:  Jennifer Helfrich, RN

In an effort to expand the community services for Occupational Health, the program was moved to an off-site clinic at the Petro Truck Stop in November. 2002.  This gave the clientele easier access and services done in a more timely manner.  Urgent Care issues were directed to the local ER or dentist.  Non-emergency issues were evaluated and referrals were made to the primary care physician.

DOT physicals, drug testing, post-accident testing, breath alcohol screening, spirometry, audiology, TB testing, Hep B injections, tetanus inoculations, and blood draws were done at the clinic.  I also did cholesterol and glucose screenings.   Drug testing was also carried out at many of the companies in Rochelle.

Also included in my duties were employee health, annual TB skin tests and flu shots and post-accident follow-up.  I have knowledge of OSHA logs.

I also provided community services from Rochelle Hospital for the seniors in the Ogle County area, by providing monthly BP screenings.  Community health fairs, employee health fairs, babysitting classes for 10-11 year olds, and providing first aid to various community events was also part of my duties.

As a result of working with the trucking industry, I presented two poster sessions of the health care needs of a trucker and the generational issues that affect the truckers, at the National Occupational Health Nurse Conference in 2007 and 2008.  I was then asked to write an article for the Association about the health care needs of the trucker.

June, 1991-November, 2002 Sears Corporate Office/Johnson and Johnson      Hoffman Estates, IL
     Sr. Occupational Health Nurse

Manager:  Ellen Pyrek, BSN RN COHN-S/CM

Worked Sear Corporate Headquarters.  Our duties included health care for the 6,000 employees that were on-site and the sales representatives and vendors who visited the complex.  We had diverse health care needs at this facility.   We worked with cancer patients, post-MI, diabetics, pre/post natal issues, and ergonomic issues.

Yearly health fairs were held which included body fat analysis, cholesterol and diabetic screenings, wellness issues, and work/life balance issues.  Different agencies, such as American Heart Assn., American Lung Assn., Alzheimer’s Assn., etc. were brought in to educate the population about the different services available to them.  I started the first Alzheimer’s-at-Lunch program offered by the Alzheimer's Assn.

While working at this position, I attained my certification in Occupational Health and Case Management.  It required five years of full-time working experience, 100 hours of CEU's and a written exam in both Occ Health and Case Management.

August, 1994-April, 1996 Provena Mercy Center          Aurora, IL
     Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse

     Manager:  Diane Gant, RN

I returned to nursing after being recruited by my previous Manager at Provena to work part-time in Pediatrics/Geriatrics, after a 12 year absence.  Even though I was only part-time, I was the charge nurse during my shifts.

The twelve year absence included time raising a family and volunteering at numerous school and community events that involved nursing skills-such as first aid at Boy Scout events and school outings.

January, 1978-March, 1979 Community Hospital          Geneva, IL
     Staff Nurse/Head Nurse-Surgery

     Manager:  Barb Chacon, RN

To expand my nursing experiences, I worked in surgery.  I both scrubbed and circulated during the cases.  After six months, I was promoted to Head Nurse of Surgery which involved scheduling cases and staff, covering shifts, working with the doctors.

June, 1976-January, 1979 Provena Mercy Center
Aurora, IL
     Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse

     Manager:  Diane Gant, RN

After graduating from nursing school I began my career as a staff nurse in Pediatrics.  While there, I was requested by many of the departments to fill in when other nurses were absent.  I worked in ICU, Recovery Room, and ER.
